Star Awards 2021: The Stars We Dressed

Star Awards 2021: The Stars We Dressed

Taking Runway Fashion in its most literal sense, The Star Awards 2021 held on Sunday (Apr 18) was a stowaway from its usual format. The event was situated at Jewel Changi Airport and Changi Airport Terminal 4.

We had the honour and privilege of dressing six local celebrities: Chen Han Wei, Desmond Ng, Guo Liang, Herman Keh, Lee Teng, and the best male newcomer, Zhang Ze Tong.

Chen Han Wei
Going against the norm and opting for a tucked-in-tux ensembled with a matching Alibaba pants, Chen Han Wei's look was most definitely one of a kind and outstanding amongst all. The pants was a great challenge to our tailoring team as it need to be drafted in bias cut (fabrics cut in 45 degrees angle) and multiple fittings to achieve the right amount of balloon and flare as it is a fine line between bag baggy and awesome baggy look.

Desmond Ng
Our task was to overhaul Desmond's image from his boyish looks to a gentlemen image. So we went one step up from a classic tux to a lounge velvet tux suit. Not to overkill it with the luxurious velvet texture, this pants are kept to a classic black tux pants rather than a full velvet suit.

Guo Liang
We had previously worked with Guo Liang for the 2017 Star Awards in a funky black & white suit. So for this year, we decide to go for a full white suit for him in glamorous satin rather than a white-jacket-black-pants combination which he  might turn out looking like an old school European restaurant waiter. His outfit was perfectly styled by Stylist Annie Chua with a pair of white shoes and silver bow tie that complements his silvery grey hair highlights.

Herman Keh
A newcomer in Mediacorp's batch of upcoming stars. Herman wore our textured black tux to show his maturity and playing it safe for his debut Star Awards.

Lee Teng
A long time friend and excellent ambassador of Q MENSWEAR for many years. Lee Teng always has the capacity to dress in whatever style we throw at him, be it classic rakish or ultra flamboyance. This year, we dressed two of his fellow hosts, Desmond Ng in Black, Guo Liang in White and so we decided to go Black & White for his ensemble. The end result was a monochromatic suit blended with a touch glittery yarns to add that ceremonial punch to the entire outfit.

Zhang Ze Tong
Cinching the Best Male Newcomer Award and potentially the nice big star from Mediacorp, we were honoured to have Ze Tong donning two outfits from us for his Star Awards ceremony. With his good physique, Ze Tong easily pulled off a grey double breasted window pane suit for his "runway" look matching it with a turtleneck inner tee for a relax-lux style.

For the awards night, Ze Tong was in the gentlemen mode with our black tuxedo with a subtle stripe detailing at the back collar for the award ceremony. Highly apt for the ceremonial theme.
